Winee Goes for GOLD!

My little Winona competed tonite at the Wachusett Kennel Club Rally Obedience trial in Novice. Only her second time in competition and she had a blast! She was a happy girl in the ring and we received many compliments on her performance. The best part for me was coming out of the ring with a happy dog who started playing tug with me! Our score was posted as a 98 out of 100, which tied us with 3 other dogs and it would be up to the time to determine placements. As the other scores were posted, I heard there were also a couple of 99 scores. After all 32 dogs had competed, the qualifying dogs returned to the ring for their ribbons. The judge announced there had been a scoring mistake and that actually 2 dogs had received a 99. The dog and handler team taking first place was #31, the judge turned to me and said " that is you!" Imagine my surprise as I had assumed it was someone else, after all my posted score had been 98!!

How exciting for me and my girl Winee taking 1st place and also winning the Highest Scoring Golden Retriever in Novice B (yes there were other Goldens competing.. 4 total).

Winee is enjoying her spoils as she rests after a busy evening. How appropriate for her to win a stuffed pheasant! She is such a treasure, I am so lucky to have such a sweet gal. Thank you to Tango, Pat, and Gayle for bringing her into my life!
